Frequently asked questions
What are the top-rated shows in New York?
Alongside timeless fan favorites like Chicago, Wicked, and The Lion King, top-rated new shows are always premiering in New York. You can sort this page by most popular to find out which shows our customers are loving right now, or click on an individual show's page to read ratings and reviews from fellow theatregoers.
How far in advance should I book tickets for New York theatre shows?
You can buy tickets to New York shows up until the day of the performance. If you strictly want to buy for a specific date, seating section, or price point, we recommend buying tickets at least a few weeks in advance. You can set an alert on the TodayTix app and website to be notified when tickets for an upcoming show go on sale.
How early should I show up to the theatre?
We recommend getting to the theatre about 30 minutes before the show starts. That way, you'll have time to get your tickets checked, use the bathroom, buy concessions and merchandise, and find your seat without having to rush as the show is about to start.
What should I wear to the theatre?
Theatres don't have dress codes, so it's best to wear whatever you'll be most comfortable sitting through the show in. If your trip to the theatre is a special occasion, you might want to dress up, but it's never required. We do advise not wearing noisy or light-up accessories or tall headwear, as they might distract the performers and your fellow audience members.
What's the average running time of a show?
Most shows' runtimes fall between 90 minutes and 3 hours. Musicals tend to average around 2.5 hours, while plays vary, and most shows longer than 2 hours include an intermission. Children's shows are usually no longer than two hours.
