Spring Awakening hit Broadway like a tidal wave when it debuted there after an off-Broadway run at the Atlantic two decades ago. The show made stars of lead actors included Jonathan Groff, Lea Michele, and John Gallagher Jr. The musical went on to win eight Tony Awards, including for Best Musical, Direction, Book, Score and Choreography.

In the musical, Wendla is entering puberty and does not understand the changes happening to her body. Simultaneously, in a boys' school, Melchior is a free thinker while his friend Moritz is deeply anxious about his sexual desires. Their lives all intertwine in beautiful but ultimately tragic ways, revealing the importance of individual liberty, parent-to-child communication, and sexual freedom. Spring Awakening is a show about the magic and difficulty of youth, brought to life by an electrifying score and memorable characters. Previously, the show was revived by Deaf West, and now a new generation of rising talent will take the stage.
