About Slam Frank

Get Slam Frank tickets to see this insane, hilarious, satirical musical about the life of Anne Frank as you've never seen it before. Inspired by a viral Tweet that asked, “Did Anne Frank ever acknowledge her white privilege?" this sharp and relentless comedy is a scathing response to contemporary woke culture. Slam Frank the musical plays at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Manhattan.

In Slam Frank off Broadway, a progressive theatre company is looking to dramatize the life of Anne Frank through a intersectional, multiethnic, genderqueer, Afro-Latin hip-hop lens. What could go wrong?

Zachary Stewart of TheaterMania raved, “If you love the theater and want it to once again be a safe space for dangerous thought, the best thing you can do is buy a ticket to Slam Frank and laugh your ass off. I promise, it won’t be difficult!” Don't miss Slam Frank in New York City, now playing.

A hilarious show that feels like a South Park episode

Sep 28

The production starts off as satire allowing us all to laugh at ourselves and modern day political correctness. Then opens positively beginning with a fun, inventive and smart premise. Then transitions into revisionist history. The appropriates and pokes fun at Jewish trauma. Then changes the rules of the already-established rules of the musical and says you can’t laugh at ourselves nor modern- day political correctness after all. Then says that Anne Frank had privilege because she’s white. Then exposes Anne Frank and her diary as capitalist greed that could have only been though up by the Jews. Then morphs into an LGBTQI+ rave party minus foam and cocktails. Then has a beautiful message about immigrants plight but is challenged because men run the world. Then shows Anne’s sister Margot being the only character who is silently connecting to her Jewish life- maybe? Then goes back to revisionist history with dash of erasure while Anne comes out as pansexual. Anne says F this and listens to her abuela about not forgetting where she comes from and makes the connection of Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans are the Jews in thier own holocaust from the United States or Germany. Then everyone talks about what the want to do and where they want to go after the war. Then the musical turns into 100% anti Zionist propaganda while the actors put on hook noses and curvature postures of greed, blood thirsty and greedy humans. (This is where the musical stopped working because it lost its intelligence and transitioned to arrogance.) The Anne Frank sacrifices herself to the Germans to save Palestinians. All the artists are immensely talented. But the achilles heel of the piece is that the creative team appeares to believe the they are the most talented and important and theatre-changing and inventive. However they come off remarkably as the epitome of privilege and unfortunately uneducated. What the piece does well is get people talking. What the piece does well also is perpetuate hostile point of views of American and global Jews. What the piece does well is excite a d divide audiences. What the piece does well is get a younger generation people into the theatre. What the piece does well is spit on Jewish life. Again, this is just one person’s opinion. Oh, also my husband’s opinion. So two people.

More information about Slam Frank

Slam Frank has delighted, confounded, and enraged audiences all at once: the notion of taking an innocent girl's story and turning it into a point of satire is part of the cleverness and boldness of this audacious, laugh-out-loud story. Audiences who love shows like The Book of Mormon and Avenue Q will find much to enjoy in this off the rails musical comedy. And you, the audience, have the privilege of witnessing it.

Critics have hailed the show as one of today's most entertaining. The New York Times called the musical “gleefully provocative," and Times of Israel called it “bold, triggering, brilliant: exactly what satire is meant to be.” It was also listed as The Best Comedy of 2025 by The New York Times.

Andrew Fox and Joel Sinensky’s musical also riffs on others': the Star of David Anne Frank stands atop echoes the artwork for Hamilton with a founding father atop his own star.
