Classic Stage Company is known for producing fresh revivals of classic works that relate to the audiences and topical issues of today's world. The company was founded in 1967 and is one of the oldest Off-Broadway theatres still operating, as CSC has been housed in its current home on East 13th Street since its founding.
The 199-seat theatre has the audience seated on three sides to create an intimate performance atmosphere. In 2019 the space was named the Lynn F. Angelson Theater after a longtime board member and supporter of CSC.
