Cry no more, little sister! The supernatural adventure film upon which the musical is based developed a dedicated cult following after its 1987 release, also picking up some awards along the way. It also acted as a springboard for the careers of Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, Corey Feldman, and others. Now, a new generation will get to take a bite out of this high-flying, thrilling tale. 

"Michael Arden is one of the most dynamic directors working today, and to have him reimagine an iconic film like *The Lost Boys* is thrilling, especially when we consider how it will come to life at the legendary Palace Theatre,” said producers James Carpinello, Marcus Chait, and Tony nominee Patrick Wilson in a joint statement. 

Giving pulse, sex appeal, and rhythm to the California vampires is The Rescues: an LA rock band fusing some of their existing songs to this musical’s story while also introducing new numbers specifically for the show. 

## What to watch for
- David Hornsby (*It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia*) and Chris Hoch wrote the book.
- The creative team includes music supervision by Tony Award nominee Ethan Popp, choreography by Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant, scenic design by Tony Award nominee Dane Laffrey and costume design by Ryan Park.
- The Broadway show is produced in special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures. Creative consultants Mark Kaufman and Lauren Shuler Donner are overseeing the project.

This spellbinding New York premiere features a book by David Hornsby (*It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia*) and Chris Hoch and a score by the L.A.-based The Rescues (Kyler England, Adrianne Gonzalez, and Gabriel Mann), including existing songs by the group reworked for the show.

Joel Schumacher’s 1987 film helped raise the profile of stars Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Haim, Jason Patric, Dianne Wiest, and Alex Winter. Now, a new generation will bring this story to life under Arden’s assured direction.

The original film won the award for Best Horror Film by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror and helped influence further pop culture vampires.

Her Broadway debut was in *Hairspray* as an understudy for Tracy Turnblad and various other roles. She went on to star in shows including *Waitress* and *Mr. Saturday Night*, which earned Bean her first Tony and Grammy Award nominations. In addition to her stage work, Bean has also released three LPs and three EPs, in addition to appearing on multiple cast albums and releasing many more singles.

Bourzgui broke onto the theatre scene when he played the title role in a revival of *The Who's Tommy* in Chicago in 2023, winning a Jeff Award for his performance. He reprised his role to critical acclaim when the production transferred to Broadway in 2024, and he also starred in the Off-Broadway play *We Live in Cairo* later that year. In 2025, he starred as Orpheus in [*Hadestown*](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/show/14748-hadestown-tickets) on Broadway.

Benet makes his Broadway debut leading this new musical, though he has been seen across the country — and, as a singer-songwriter, he's been heard on multiple streaming platforms. As an actor, Benet has appeared as in the 2025 Hollywood Bowl production of *Jesus Christ Superstar* and earned Ovation and LA Drama Critics Circle Awards for his performance as The Boy in *Waiting for Godot* at the Mark Taper Forum. He began his professional career as a child actor, appearing on *The Mentalist* and playing young Tommy in the *The Who's Tommy* with Tony winner Alice Ripley. As a singer, Benet has headlined such venues as The Mint in Los Angeles and the Mercury Lounge in NYC.

Located on Broadway in the heart of Times Square, the venue originally opened in 1913 and rapidly became the hub of vaudeville's top-tier entertainment, hosting performances by legends such as Harry Houdini and Ed Wynn. Over the years, it evolved into a premier venue for musical theatre and has witnessed some of the most iconic Broadway shows, including 'West Side Story,' 'The Sound of Music,' and 'Beauty and the Beast.'

**How to Get to the Venue:**
The Palace Theatre, situated at 160 West 47th Street, is easily accessible by public transportation. The closest subway stations are 47-50 Streets - Rockefeller Center (served by B, D, F, and M lines) and 49th Street (served by N, Q, R, and W lines). Several bus lines also stop near the theater, including M7, M20, and M50. If you're driving, numerous parking garages are available in the vicinity, though due to the bustling location, public transportation is recommended.

The Palace Theatre was designed by Kirchoff and Rose, and funded by vaudeville entrepreneur Martin Beck. The Palace Theatre officially opened on March 24, 1913 and became a prime destination for vaudeville acts.

During the Great Depression, the venue became the RKO Palace and primarily hosted radio recordings and functioned as a cinema.

In 1965, the Nederlander Organization purchased the property from RKO and restored its use as a traditional theatre, reopening the venue on January 29, 1966 with the premiere of the musical *Sweet Charity*.

Since 2018, the Palace Theatre has been shut down; the building was lifted 30 feet off the ground to make way for new developments below. The renovation is scheduled for completion in 2023.

The closest subway stop to the Palace Theatre is 49th Street on the N, R, and W lines. The closest bus stop is 7th Ave/W. 44th St. on the M104 line.
