About A Little Life - Savoy Theatre

James Norton leads an all-star cast in Ivo van Hove’s A Little Life. See the hit West End play in its second engagement, and book A Little Life tickets at the Savoy Theatre on TodayTix.

Meet Jude, Willem, JB, and Malcolm. They’re four college friends who all graduate and move to New York City in the hopes of achieving their dreams. Buoyed by their friendship and ambition, they try their best to stick it out in their newfound adult lives. But as time passes by, their complicated relationships with Jude threaten to destroy their existence. Can the quartet find themselves and learn what it means to love in a difficult world?

Hanya Yanagihara’s A Little Life is a powerful testament to love, loss, and heartbreak. It portrays difficult topics with compassion and reminds us all of the transformative power that theatre can hold. It’s already transforming lives; before performances at the Savoy Theatre, the show plays a three-month engagement at the Harold Pinter Theatre.

Ivo van Hove directs Happy Valley’s Tommy Lee Royce, James Norton, as Jude, alongside Bridgerton’s Luke Thompson as Willem, It’s a Sin’s Omari Douglas as JB, and The Witcher’s Zach Wyatt as Malcolm. Don’t miss out on what’s set to be a landmark West End play, and book your A Little Life tickets before it’s too late.

More information about A Little Life - Savoy Theatre

How do you transform a novel into a piece of theatre? Call on Ivo van Hove. The Belgian director previously helmed a Brokeback Mountain opera, Network starring Bryan Cranston, and All About Eve with Gillian Anderson. Van Hove brings his avant-garde vision to a highly lauded text, and the end result is sensational.

The A Little Life play premiered at Toneelgroep Amsterdam in 2018. The original play features Dutch-speaking characters, with English subtitles. However, the West End production is an all-English adaptation. Regardless of the language, A Little Life on stage adds depth to the complex and multi-layered characters. Once you’ve met them, you’ll never want to say goodbye.

What to Watch For:

  • Hanya Yanagihara’s 2015 novel is her most successful to date, winningthe Kirkus Prize for Fiction.
  • She’s not a one-trick pony though, as she’s also published The People in the Trees and To Paradise.
  • In a 2019 survey conducted by The Guardian, A Little Life placed in the top 100 books of the 21st century.
  • The Olivier-nominated actor Zubin Varla stars. He’s previously appeared in Fun Home and Tammy Faye.
