*Evita* won two Olivier Awards in London for Jamie Lloyd's revival, and now the production comes to Broadway off of a wave of critical acclaim. In a five-star review, [London Theatre](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/reviews/evita-review-london-palladium) wrote, "This darkly brilliant *Evita* is bursting with star quality."

It went on to praise Rachel Zegler's unique take on the role made famous by Patti LuPone on stage and Madonna on the screen: "She reads like a modern pop star, dressed in black boots, bra and hot pants, doing Beyoncé hair flips; when she collapses during a trip abroad, she might be battling a grueling touring schedule. Like an influencer, she’s always “on” in front of the cameras, but, in a poignant post-balcony scene, she removes her blonde wig (here evidently a costume worn by the consummate actress), and, exhausted, lets her smile drop."

Audiences can also expect fresh choreography and stunning visuals alongside a classic score in this nuanced revival.

## What to watch for
- The musical also features the Oscar-winning song “You Must Love Me.”
- Star Rachel Zegler said in a statement, "Performing Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's brilliant show in London was a dream come true, but being able to partner once again with Jamie to bring Evita to Broadway is a once in a lifetime opportunity."
- This is not the first time Jamie Lloyd has revived an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical; he previously did so successfully with *Sunset Blvd*.
- The musical premiered as a 1976 two-LP concept album before bowing on Broadway.

No weapons permitted on the premises. No outside food or beverages, electric scooters, e-bikes, or battery-powered transportation devices, except when medically necessary.

All items are subject to inspection. Anything brought into the theatre must fit on your lap or completely under your seat without blocking any aisles. Avoid bringing packages, luggage, and backpacks. Some items must be checked.

Get *Evita* tickets on New York Theatre Guide to see Rachel Zegler reprise her Olivier Award-winning role as Eva Perón in Tony Award winner Jamie Lloyd's stunning new production. *Evita* the musical returns to Broadway spring of 2027 and features Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's hit score including songs like “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina,” “Oh What A Circus,” “Another Suitcase in Another Hall,” and the Oscar-winning “You Must Love Me.”

See *Evita* on Broadway to experience Lloyd's fresh and electrifying take on the woman who rose and fell from power. In a five-star review, [London Theatre](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/reviews/evita-review-london-palladium) said, "This darkly brilliant *Evita* is bursting with star quality." The show is known for Patti LuPone's star-making turn and its film adaptation with Madonna in the lead role, but now Lloyd, known for reinventing classic musicals (including another Webber one, *Sunset Blvd*.) puts a fresh spin on the show.

Known for her Golden Globe-nominated role in *West Side Story*, Zegler said in a statement, "Performing Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's brilliant show in London was a dream come true, but being able to partner once again with Jamie to bring *Evita* to Broadway is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I can't wait to perform for my home, New York City."

“I was completely overwhelmed by the incredible response to *Evita* in London. It is an honor to work with Tim and Andrew, and I’m looking forward to revisiting the production with Rachel, whose stellar performance continues to inspire me," Lloyd said in a statement. "When we started discussing a New York production, it became apparent that our Palladium staging of ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ would not be possible. I am really excited to explore a new idea, made especially for Broadway.”

Get *Romeo + Juliet* tickets and see two of today’s rising young stars take on William Shakespeare’s most famous, and doomed, couple: Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler make their Broadway debuts in this new adaptation of the classic. Tony Award winner Sam Gold (*Fun Home*) directs, and it’s not the first time he’s brought a Shakespeare tragedy to Broadway: his other star-studded productions include *Macbeth* with Daniel Craig and Ruth Negga and *King Lear* with Glenda Jackson. Now, he directs a new version of the timeless tale playing for a strictly limited engagement.

Experience *Romeo + Juliet* on Broadway. You’ve heard the story before, but never quite like this, and that’s because this new version features a musical score by Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff (member of Bleachers, formerly of Fun, and co-writer with pop artists including Lorde, Taylor Swift, and Lana Del Rey). Screen stars Connor (*Heartstopper*) and Zegler (*West Side Story*) will also dance in this fresh adaptation, bringing electricity to the story, with movement by Tony Award winner Sonya Tayeh (*Moulin Rouge!*).

One of Shakepeare’s most produced works and the basis for innumerable adaptations (including the musical *West Side Story*, whose Stephen Spielberg film remake made Zegler a star), *Romeo + Juliet* follows the titular lovers as they meet and romance despite coming from feuding families in fair Verona. Lust and love, blood and battles ensue, culminating in an inevitable and tragic ending. As the tagline for the show says, “The youth are f---ed,” so get ready for a contemporary and colorful rendition of this centuries-old and highly universal play. Buckle up: this *Romeo + Juliet*, a unique adaptation only on Broadway for a limited time, promises to thrill. Tickets to *Romeo + Juliet* are available now.

Romeo + Juliet - NYTG

See *Romeo + Juliet* play on Broadway this fall with Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler as the star-crossed lovers. Tony Award winner Sam Gold directs *Romeo + Juliet* in New York in a new adaptation with music by Jack Antonoff.

*Romeo and Juliet* has had many lives: there have been multiple films and various Broadway revivals, but also fresh adaptations for the stage, including the musical *West Side Story* and, now on Broadway, [*& Juliet*](https://www.todaytix.com/nyc/shows/25598-and-juliet-on-broadway), which imagines a different ending to the classic tale. Now, a new production featuring music by Jack Antonoff comes to the Great White Way.

Stage and screen stars have long sought to play the title roles in Shakespeare’s famous drama, with a previous Broadway production casting Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad. Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler, known for playing lovestruck youths in *West Side Story* and *Heartstopper*, now get the chance to tackle these meaty roles in *Romeo + Juliet* in New York. The timeless story of love and hate has endured for centuries and seems to never go out of style even as the world evolves: countries still war, families hold prejudices, and there is always a form of love deemed taboo.

## What to watch for

- A musical adaptation calls for dancing, and choreographer Sonya Tayeh (a Tony Award winner for [*Moulin Rouge!*](https://www.todaytix.com/nyc/shows/15911-moulin-rouge-the-musical)) is the play’s movement director.
- This is not Sam Gold’s first Shakespeare production on Broadway: he previously directed *Macbeth* with Daniel Craig and Ruth Negga and *King Lear* with Glenda Jackson
- Many actresses have played Juliet, and many have sung as Maria, her *West Side Story* counterpart, but few have played both, and no one besides Rachel Zegler on such a Hollywood and Broadway scale: the stars aligning makes for a very exciting Broadway debut for the young actress.
- The show’s marketing and social media presence are bringing a contemporary energy to the centuries-old story: the tagline, after all, is “The youth are f–ked.”

Circle In The Square Theater

Designed by Alan Sayles, the Circle in the Square Theatre (along with its much larger sibling, the [Gershwin Theatre](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/theatres/gershwin-theatre)) is inside the confines of the Paramount Plaza office tower. The Circle in the Square Theatre was built in 1970 as the Uris Brothers tore down the former Capitol Theatre in order to construct the tower.

The current Broadway theatre is the successor of a same-named Off-Broadway theatre, which operated from 1950 to 1995 at multiple locations in Greenwich Village. The Circle in the Square repertory company staged its first Broadway production — a revival of *Mourning Becomes Electra* — at its current venue on November 15, 1972.

The venue is one of the smallest and most intimate spaces on Broadway. Productions are generally staged in the round, as audiences are seated on three sides of the stage. The theatre is also associated with the Circle in the Square Theatre School, the only accredited drama school attached to a Broadway house.
