In *The Queen of Versailles*, Jackie Siegel has it all: a wealthy husband, eight kids, and a gigantic house she can’t wait to show you. Modeled after the Palace of Versailles but situated in Florida, the gaudy home is to be the United States’ largest private residence. Based on a true story, *The Queen of Versailles* is a new musical about glitz and greed.

Kristin Chenoweth, as Jackie, has played a vapid character with a big heart before: Glinda the Good Witch in *Wicked*. Audiences familiar with her signature humor and sky-high slinging will find plenty to enjoy in this new musical, penned by Stephen Schwartz who also wrote *Wicked* and helped catapult Chenoweth to stardom. Rounding out the cast is F. Murray Abraham, as a sleazy businessman, who is known for playing a lecherous wealthy man before, as seen on *The White Lotus*. Together, Chenoweth and Abraham offer a hilarious portrait of Florida “royalty.”

## What to watch for
- Truth is stranger than fiction: The musical is based on Lauren Greenfield’s documentary *The Queen of Versailles* and the life stories of Jackie and David Siegel.
- Vogue says “Not since she belted “Popular” in a bundle of pink tulle has Kristin Chenoweth sunk her teeth into a part so uniquely suited to her talents.”
- Stephen Schwartz is a theatre icon but has also won three Oscars for his music in *Pocohontas* and *The Prince of Egypt*.
- Bookwriter Lindsey Ferrentino is an Olivier-nominated playwright who has been called “a moral compass second to none among her generation of playwrights” (Variety). She had three plays premiere in 2024 season, including The Queen of Versailles, The Fear of 13, and The Artist.

This new musical is based on the life of Jackie Siegel, a former Mrs. Florida and wife to an ultra-rich businessman. She’s queen of Versailles — not the palace, but her own recreation of it, which is to be the US’s largest private home. But a recession looms, and Jackie’s dreams may crumble.

Get *The Queen of Versailles* tickets on New York Theatre Guide to see Kristin Chenoweth back on Broadway. The stage icon, Tony Award winner, and original Glinda in *Wicked* stars in the new musical *The Queen of Versailles* about the Florida woman who has it all — including the largest private home in the US she can’t wait to show you. Tony Award winner Michael Arden (*Parade*) directs this new musical by Stephen Schwartz (*Wicked*) and Lindsey Ferrentino (Kesselring Prize winner) that also stars Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham (*The White Lotus*).

Welcome to Versailles — no, not the palace in Paris, but the real-life, under-construction home in Florida where Jackie Siegel (Chenoweth) is queen. Rising from computer engineer to Mrs. Florida to billionaire status, Jackie has it all, including a wealthy husband (Abraham), eight children, and what will soon be the world’s largest private home. She is the American Dream incarnate — but trouble looms.

As the 2008 recession hits, Siegel must confront her ideals, real needs, and non-stop shopping habit. Will she (and her $100 million house) survive the turning tides? Experience The Queen of Versailles on Broadway to find out. The Queen of Versailles explores the true cost of fame, fortune, and family.

The new musical reunites celebrated Academy Award–winning songwriter Schwartz with Tony and Emmy winner Chenoweth, two decades after they changed Broadway forever with *Wicked*. It started off in Boston where it won raves: “Chenoweth soars in a fabulous, tour-de-force performance,” Theatrely wrote.

WBUR called it “lavish, funny, and heartwarming. The Queen of Versailles dazzles in an exciting night of theatre,” and Variety said “Schwartz’s score is the most emotionally affecting of his long career.”

Don’t miss Chenoweth back on Broadway, and all hail the queen: tickets to *The Queen of Versailles* in New York are available now.

The Queen of Versailles Broadway Tickets | The Official NY Theatre Guide

This new musical traces the rise of the hyperwealthy former Mrs. Florida, Jackie Siegel. She's the embodiment of the American Dream, and to show you how far she’s come, she’s inviting you into her home, Versailles, under construction as the largest private home in the US. But with a recession looming, her dreams may be shattered.

Kristin Dawn Chenoweth was born on July 24, 1968 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She is a Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress and singer known for originating the role of Glinda in the musical Wicked, as well as her television roles on Pushing Daisies, The West Wing, and Glee.

Chenoweth studied at Broken Arrow Senior High School and attended Oklahoma City University, earning a bachelor's degree in musical theatre in 1990 and a master's degree in opera performance in 1992. During her years in education, she also performed in regional productions of iconic musicals such as Gypsy, The Sound of Music, Promises, Promises, and The King and I. After successfully auditioning for the 1993 Paper Mill Playhouse production of Animal Crackers, she moved to New York City.

At the beginning of her career on stage, Chenoweth performed in various regional productions (such as The Phantom of the Opera), and she made her Off-Broadway debut as Luisa in The Fantasticks in 1994. She followed this with two more Off-Broadway productions — Box Office of the Damned in 1994 and Scapin for Roundabout Theatre Company in 1997 — before making her Broadway debut in Steel Pier in March 1997 and receiving a Theatre World Award. After appearing in Lincoln Center Theater's A New Brain off Broadway in 1998, she would return to Broadway and originate the role of Sally in the 1999 revival of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, which led to her winning a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress In A Musical that year, alongside her first Drama Desk Award.

Chenoweth performed in her first Broadway play, Epic Proportions, in the fall of 1999 — and her next Broadway venture would change her life for good. Following a tryout in San Francisco, she would originate the role of Glinda in Wicked in October 2003. She received a 2004 Tony Award nomination for Best Actress In A Musical for her efforts, and the musical went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

Since Wicked, Chenoweth has starred in Roundabout Theatre Company's 2006 Broadway revival of The Apple Tree, the 2010 Broadway revival of Promises, Promises, and Roundabout's 2015 Broadway revival of On the Twentieth Century, earning another Tony Award nomination and winning a second Drama Desk Award for the latter. In November 2016, she staged her own concert series at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, titled Kristin Chenoweth: My Love Letter to Broadway, and over the course of her career, she has also performed in five Encores! productions at New York City Center: Strike up the Band in 1998, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever in 2000, The Apple Tree in 2005, Stairway to Paradise in 2007, and Music in the Air in 2009.

On television, Chenoweth starred in a semi-autobiographical NBC sitcom named Kristin in 2001 and starred as Marian Paroo in the 2003 television movie The Music Man, but her breakthrough role came in 2004, when she played media consultant Annabeth Schott in The West Wing on NBC. She remained with the series through 2006. Chenoweth's next big role was as Olive Snook in ABC's Pushing Daisies, for which she earned her first Emmy Award nomination in 2008 and won an Emmy in 2009. That same year she would also star as April Rhodes in the musical series Glee on Fox, a role that earned her two further Emmy nominations in 2010 and 2011. Since Glee, her most notable TV credits have included Sit Down, Shut Up on Fox, GCB on ABC, Descendants on the Disney Channel, Trial & Error on NBC, and the role of Velma Von Tussle in NBC's Hairspray Live! in 2016.

Chenoweth has also played roles in a number of films, most notably Bewitched (2005), The Pink Panther (2006), R.V.: Runaway Vacation (2006), Rio 2 (2014), The Boy Next Door (2015), The Peanuts Movie (2015), and Disney's Tinker Bell movie franchize.

As a recording artist, she has released a total of seven studio albums: Let Yourself Go in 2001, As I Am in 2005, A Lovely Way to Spend Christmas in 2008, Some Lessons Learned in 2011, Coming Home in 2014, The Art of Elegance in 2016, and For the Girls in 2019. She returned to Broadway in celebration of her seventh album for a limited concert series engagement entitled Kristin Chenoweth: For the Girls at the Nederlander Theatre in 2019.

In 2025, Chenoweth returned to the Broadway stage as Jackie Siegel in [*The Queen of Versailles*](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/show/41950-the-queen-of-versailles-on-broadway), reprising her role from the show's 2024 Boston world premiere and reuniting with *Wicked* composer Stephen Schwartz.
