See this "thrillingly original new musical” with “a powerhouse score," per The New York Times in a Critic's Pick review. *Wanted* on Broadway tells the mostly true story of Mary and Martha Clarke: sisters, outlaws, legends. In 1893 Texas, the sisters try to settle their mother's sharecropper debt, going to extraordinary means to clear her name and win back their house.

*Wanted* in New York is a true legacy story: it features book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri (a real-life descendant of the Sisters Clarke) plus music by Ross Baum. Obie Award winner and Tony Award nominee Stevie Walker-Webb (*Ain’t No Mo’* on Broadway) directs this fresh musical, which features choreography from Chelsey Arce.

In *Wanted*, two sisters disguise themselves to fight for what is rightfully theirs in post-Civil War Texas. Resisting racism and persecution, the two sisters move forward to clear their name and fight for their mother's honor. Audiences can expect a sweeping American story in this moving and smart musical, which was previously titled *Gun & Powder* during its acclaimed Paper Mill Playhouse run.

“We’re thrilled to unveil the new title *Wanted* as we head toward Broadway,” said producers P3 Productions (Ben Holtzman, Sammy Lopez, Fiona Rudin) and TRATE Productions (Robyn Coles and Evan Coles) in a statement. “This project has grown and evolved over the past few years, and we feel this new title best reflects the musical and story in its final form. Following our run at Paper Mill Playhouse, we believe the show’s story of resilience and perseverance is timelier than ever, and we remain committed to championing this bold, original, and action-packed new musical.”

James Earl Jones Theatre

The James Earl Jones Theatre, formerly called the Cort Theatre, officially opened on December 20, 1912, with *Peg o' My Heart* starring Laurette Taylor. The venue was originally named after John Cort, founder of the Northwestern Theatrical Association. He commissioned Thomas W. Lamb to design the theatre, which would mirror the Petit Trianon in Versailles.

The Shubert Organization acquired the theatre in 1927, two years before Cort’s death. It has always been used as a traditional theatre except for the years from 1969 to 1972, when it became a television studio with the broadcast of *The Merv Griffin Show*.

Renovation work began at the Cort Theatre in 2021, and the venue reopened in 2022 under its new name. The building is now named for James Earl Jones, the Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winning actor known for voice roles in *The Lion King* and *Star Wars* films and stage performances in shows including *The Great White Hope* and *Fences*, which both earned him Tony Awards. He also earned a Lifetime Achievement Tony Award in 2017.
