Set an alert for when You Got Older tickets go on sale with TodayTix to see SAG Award nominee Alia Shawkat (Search Party, Arrested Development) star in this acclaimed play that reunites Pulitzer Prize finalist Clare Barron (Dance Nation) and Tony Award nominee Anne Kauffman (Mary Jane). Barron, an Obie-winning playwright, wrote this play that premiered a decade ago, and now it returns with Kauffman, a new play champion, directing a fresh production at the Cherry Lane Theatre. You Got Older plays for a limited run this February and March only.
In You Got Older off Broadway, unmoored Mae (Shawkat) returns home to her small Washington town after losing her job and her boyfriend — just the price you pay for dating your boss. While home, she takes care of her ailing father but finds a strange bond with a figure less defined. You Got Older in New York is a striking play about family and refinding yourself.

You Got Older offers audiences an exciting chance to see an acclaimed play revived in New York. “The chance to revisit this play with Anne Kauffman is a dream come true,” said playwright Clare Barron. “We both got older. Who knows if we're wiser! But it's a beautiful experience to see the play through a new lens with a new venture on a precious, old stage. Life and intimacy continue to confound.”
In the play, Mae meets a mysterious stranger after her breakup and learns that the intimacy she’s been craving is easier with the unknown, rather than with her own family. Mixing together reality and fantasy, You Got Older is a smart, tender, and darkly comic play about connection, illness, and cowboys — and how to remain standing when everything you know comes crashing down around you.
Time Out New York gave the play five stars, calling it "extraordinary."
You Got Older is a disarming play about a wayward daughter, her ailing father, and the strange connections she finds after returning home.
You Got Older is at New York's Cherry Lane Theatre, which is located at 38 Commerce St., New York, 10014.
