More information about Indian Princesses

In Indian Princesses, playwright Eliana Theologides Rodriguez examines racial relations through a unique prism: a summer camp for girls of color and their white dads. Taking place in the summer of 2008, an time that led into Barack Obama's historic election, Rodriguez imagines a setting designed to bond families through handmade activities, camp-like adventures... and a heavy dose of cultural appropriation.

However, the girls are at inflection points, and they soon have questions that their fathers are unable – or unwilling – to answer.

The play is deeply autobiographical, inspired by the playwright’s experiences in a father-daughter program of the same name. Indian Princesses offers a tender satire that explores the stories we tell, the histories we don't, and the truths that live inside us, waiting to come out.

Audiences can expect sharp humor and a beating heart in the play, and in each of its characters, no matter their ages or backgrounds.
