Together, they study at a summer camp, but as their connections intensify, the world beyond them hums with a steady undercurrent of disaster, fear, and emergency. Navigating girlhood, growth, and their artistry, they must now also find new ways to improvise on stage and off.
A Harvard graduate and the niece of Angela Davis, Eisa Davis understands what it means to be measured at a high bar. In the play, she explores the musicality of girlhood, and what is expected of women, at such a young age, who are nonetheless destined for so much. Davis's fearless, funny, and poignant new play was commissioned by its two producing theatres, Vineyard Theatre and American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. It premieres in New York City, downtown at the Vineyard, a theatre known for its bold programming and first-class writers, including Anne Washburn and Robert Lopez.
