This musical play revolves around four teenagers in a music program. The highlights here are the vocals. However, at almost 2 hours, it would greatly benefit from a reduction of about 30 minutes.

sorry oops this isnt one or two sentences this piece was so meaningful. I'm so happy I caught it in time! My friend told me about it (hes an intern who sees shows on behalf of his company which funds shows). he said I would really like it. I wish I found a discount bc im also an unpaid intern this summer lol, but I found out it was the last day! So I bought a ticket on saturday night. I literally bought the last ticket in the theater! I went in totally blind to the show. I LOVED it. every actor was so good. everything was so great. my dad is incredibly musical and raised me on music, and I cried after and sent him this fathers day text. I saw a play today called girls chance music about these four girls in a music intensive program and the tie throughout all of them was how music changed their lives. the last scene was a flash forward to how the main character (imo she was the main character) ended up not doing music and how much she wished she did. but how it all shaped who she was regardless. I couldn’t stop crying in the theater because it made me take time to stop and think about how meaningful your parenting approach was and how it shaped me forever. I can never thank you enough for that. I know it’s shaped me in more ways than I can express and even know, but i’m just so grateful. thank you so much. happy father’s day. you are my favorite person. so. it moved me for SURE I really loved it and I hadnt heard of any of the actors, which is so important. we need new faces in theater. so good. my only note is this I totally get that if you pay for a ticket, you should be able to see the show. BUT. I think theres a limit. a group of people was ushered in 15 minutes before the show ended, and whispered the entire time. they must have known someone in the cast because they all had bouquets of flowers, but they kept crinkling the plastic and that and them literally talking OVER the actors was SO distracting and disrespectful. They were sitting right behind me. It totally took me out of it. I get ushering people in for the first like.... 20 minutes because new york traffic is so unpredictable, but 70 minutes into the show or whatever I dont know if that should happen, especially if the people are as rude as they were!!!!! show was amazing and im so happy I saw it

More information about ||: Girls :||: Chance :||: Music :||

||: Girls :||: Chance :||: Music :|| showcases the great talent of four teenage girls. Together, they study at a summer camp, but as their connections intensify, the world beyond them hums with a steady undercurrent of disaster, fear, and emergency. Navigating girlhood, growth, and their artistry, they must now also find new ways to improvise on stage and off.

A Harvard graduate and the niece of Angela Davis, Eisa Davis understands what it means to be measured at a high bar. In the play, she explores the musicality of girlhood, and what is expected of women, at such a young age, who are nonetheless destined for so much. Davis's fearless, funny, and poignant new play was commissioned by its two producing theatres, Vineyard Theatre and American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. It premieres in New York City, downtown at the Vineyard, a theatre known for its bold programming and first-class writers, including Anne Washburn and Robert Lopez.

What to watch for

  • Eisa Davis is known for her work as the co-creator of the Warriors concept album with Lin-Manuel Miranda.
  • Pam MacKinnon is the outgoing Artistic Director of ACT in San Francisco.
  • Earlier this season, the Vineyard produced The New York Times Critic's Pick, The Burning Cauldron of Fiery Fire.
  • Davis is also an actress who has been on Succession and Mare of Easttown.
