About Cult of Love

Think your family’s got issues? Try spending some time with the Dahls. Get Cult of Love tickets on TodayTix to see Emmy Award nominee and Russian Doll co-creator Leslye Headland’s Broadway debut. Directed by Broadway alum and Drama Desk Award nominee Trip Cullman, this New York-premiere play comes to the Hayes Theater just ahead of the holidays as the Dahls experience a Christmas like no other.

Deck the halls with... laughs and worry: the Dahl clan is getting back together, siblings’ partners in tow, only for old wounds to fester and resurface around the family table. The dinner’s not ready — when will it be ready? — but drama is the main dish in this hilarious, biting, and smart comedy about family, tradition, and the ties that bomb.

More information about Cult of Love

Leslye Headland is a writer for the stage and screen, including the film Sleeping with Other People, and she has had a long career off Broadway, starting over a decade ago and including Assistance at Playwrights Horizons. Her latest play, Cult of Love, is the final one in her cycle of plays about the seven deadly sins. This new work, her long-awaited Broadway debut, focuses on pride. Growing up Christian, the playwright attributes a lot of her work to her upbringing, digging into the hilarity and absurdity of an obsession with behavior deemed sinful.

Trip Cullman has a long history of working on new plays and musicals, including The Pain of My Belligerence, Unknown Soldier, and Moscow x6. Many have been off Broadway, but he has now been directing on Broadway as well, and Cult of Love marks his return. This new show comes to Second Stage, a theatre known for its adventurous new plays.
