Get ready to dance! David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's acclaimed musical Here Lies Love is the hottest club in New York this summer, bringing a disco pop party to Broadway. Catch Filipina TV and music star Vina Morales as a guest star from September 22 to October 22 only. Get Here Lies Love tickets on TodayTix now.
Fresh off the success of his Tony Award-winning theatrical concert American Utopia (and its encore Broadway run), Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee David Byrne returns to Broadway alongside big-beat pioneer Fatboy Slim in his Broadway writing debut. The duo’s pulsing disco tunes power the true story of Imelda Marcos, the former First Lady of the Philippines who lost her closest friends as she gained power — and soon lost that, too, amid the People Power Revolution. History has never been so dance-worthy, especially as it unfolds all around the audience.
Ten years after an Off-Broadway premiere run that The New York Times hailed as "insidiously infectious" and "ingeniously devised," join the crowd on the dance floor at this unique show revolutionizing what Broadway can be.

Here Lies Love first appeared off Broadway in 2013, with direction by Alex Timbers and choreography by Annie-B Parson, who return for the Broadway run. The cast included Tony Award winner Ruthie Ann Miles as Imelda, Jose Llana as her husband Ferdinand, and Conrad Ricamora as opposition leader Ninoy Aquino; the latter two also return for Broadway. The limited-run production at The Public Theater won five Lucille Lortel Awards, three Drama Desk Awards, and an Obie Award, and the show subsequently returned for an encore run in 2014.
Byrne has been working on the musical since the early 2000s. He was first inspired by The Autocrat, a book by Polish author Ryszard Kapuściński about the fall of a separate Ethiopian regime. To him, the carefully curated personas of powerful world leaders reminded him of theatrical performances.
He later read that Marcos was fond of disco (and was even part of the New York disco scene for a time) and further researched her life. Byrne then combined all these themes into one concept, which became Here Lies Love in New York.
Hit the dance floor at David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's immersive disco-pop musical about former Philippine First Lady Imelda Marcos. The story of her rise and fall to power plays out as an exhilarating but cautionary nightclub act, performed by Broadway's first all-Filipino cast.
Here Lies Love on Broadway is at New York's Broadway Theatre, which is located at 1681 Broadway, New York, 10019.

David Byrne of the Talking Heads is behind the concept, music, and lyrics of Here Lies Love. Fatboy Slim also wrote some of the music. The show does not have a book; it is entirely sung-through.
Here Lies Love contains 25 songs, most of which first appeared on David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's same-named 2010 concept album. The songs include "Here Lies Love," "The Rose of Tacloban," and "Just Ask the Flowers."
Here Lies Love is recommended for ages 14 and up. The show deals with mature themes including death and political unrest, and it can be difficult for parties, including parents and children, to stay together as they move around on the dance floor.
The Here Lies Love musical is based on a concept album also titled Here Lies Love. David Byrne and Fatboy Slim released the album — which features multiple female singers alongside Byrne — in 2010, and the musical adaptation premiered in 2013.
Standing tickets put audiences on the dance floor on the ground level of the theatre. They stand for the entire show and move around the actors as the show progresses. Seated tickets are located in the mezzanine, where people watch the action from above in traditional theatre seats.
Alex Timbers developed and directs Here Lies Love. He previously staged the show's world-premiere production in 2013. He is also known for staging other high-energy, splashy musicals including Moulin Rouge! The Musical and Beetlejuice.
Here Lies Love is high-energy and fuses the fun of a disco dance party with a lesson on a complex chapter of Philippine history. The show received widespread critical acclaim both off and on Broadway, and its staying power after more than 10 years proves its excellence.
