The New York String Orchestra has delighted New York City audiences every Christmas Eve for more than 50 years. This beloved Carnegie Hall event features some of the nation’s most celebrated young musicians performing alongside guest artists, many of whom appeared with the orchestra in the early days of their careers. Venezuelan violinist Rubén Rengel (winner of the Robert Frederick Smith Prize at the 2018 Sphinx Competition) joins the orchestra for J. S. Bach’s virtuosic Concerto in A Minor. The program also features Elgar’s poetic Introduction and Allegro, a charming early Mozart work, and Tchaikovsky’s melodic Serenade for Strings.
