Friends! The Musical Parody was on a break... but not anymore! Bob and Tobly McSmith's send up of the iconic sitcom has gone on a national tour since its last NYC engagement in summer 2021, but now Friends! The Musical Parody is off Broadway once more for an open-ended run. Get Friends! The Musical Parody tickets on TodayTix.

Friends! The Musical Parody is a musical mash-up of all your favorite lines, references, and moments from the Friends TV series. The difference, though, is that they're incorporated into an all-new plot centering around a runaway bride that bursts into Central Park and gets the friends swept up in her adventure. Plus, all the action is set to original songs composed by Grammy nominee Assaf Gleizner. Get ready to hear Ross, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, Joey, and Rachel sing!

Friends! The Musical Parody was conceived in 2017 by Bob and Tobly McSmith, the creators behind other parody musicals based on Saved by the Bell, Full House, and 90210, among others. Their musical parody based on The Office is currently running at the Theater Center off Broadway, where Friends! The Musical Parody is also playing on different days.

We'll be there for you — with Friends! The Musical Parody tickets! Get tickets to Friends! The Musical Parody in New York on TodayTix.

What to Watch For

  • The songs in Friends! The Musical Parody are based on iconic lines from the show, as well as hilarious, self-referential observations about the show. They're titled things like “How You Doin’?,” “Oh. My. God. It’s Janice!,” “495 Grove Street – How Can We Afford This Place?,” and “We Were On A Break!” There's also “We’ll Always Be There For You,” which spoofs on Friends's iconic theme song.
  • Bob and Tobly McSmith are not related or married, even though they have the same last name. They actually made that last name up! They use it professionally because “it reflects how much they feel like family.”
  • All in all, the McSmiths have created nine parody musicals in 15 years. Who knows what the subject of the 10th might be?
  • Friends! The Musical Parody, like the McSmith's other musicals, is an unauthorized parody of its source material. They lean into that fact, using time at the beginning of the show to mention a section of the United States Copyright Act of 1976 that says how such parodies are okay if you're using them for "comment or criticism" on the original. Who knew that a musical would come with a bonus education on copyright law?
