As AI continues to take over labor, culture, and broader political conversations, Matthew Libby's play is one for the here and now, if audiences are ready to witness its dark prescience. 

“When we first discovered Matthew Libby’s thrilling new play *Data*, we were immediately struck by how powerfully it speaks to our current moment,” said the play's producers in a joint statement. “It’s an innovative, fast-paced play exploring the tension between technology and morality. The play first premiered online during COVID before making its live stage debut at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. last year. Now, it comes to another tech hub, New York City, sharing a sinister and timely tale about how easy it is for us to give up our information, freely, and see it manipulated to horrifying ends.

The theatre has hosted a wide variety of dramatic and musical productions, contributing significantly to New York's rich theatrical history. The mission of the venue today is to innovate, provoke, and reimagine what theatre can be, music to the ears of many theatre aficionados. The theatre is also home to the annual Lucille Lortel Awards, which recognize excellence in off-Broadway theatre. 

**How to Get There:** The Lucille Lortel Theatre is conveniently located at 121 Christopher Street. It's easily accessible by subway, the nearest stop is Christopher Street on the 1 Line. Also, the A, C, E, B, D, F, and M trains stop at West 4th Street, a short walk away. There are also numerous bus lines. For those driving, there are public parking lots nearby. Please remember to check the MTA for any route changes due to maintenance or construction.

Lucille Lortel Theatre - NY

Located in the West Village in Manhattan, the Lucille Lortel Theatre was first built 1926 as a 590-seat movie theatre. Converted into an Off-Broadway theatre in the early 1950s, the venue opened with *Maya* in June 1953.

In 1955, Louis Schweitzer acquired the building as an anniversary present for his wife, actress/producer Lucille Lortel. To celebrate her 81st birthday, the theatre was rechristened the Lucille Lortel Theatre in 1981. Since Lortel’s death, the Lucille Lortel Foundation has owned the theatre.

The Off-Broadway theatre company MCC Theater used the Lortel as its home base until it acquired its own venue in Hell's Kitchen.

Cole Escola moved to New York for college and, after dropping out, found their way into the city’s comedy scene. In 2008, Escola met comedian Jeffery Self, who shared their passions for theatre and ‘90s sitcoms, inspiring them to create a YouTube series as the "Very Good Looking (VGL) Gay Boys." Following the cult success of their videos, they received their own TV show on Logo, *Jeffery & Cole Casserole*, which ran for two seasons. Escola later had roles on *Difficult People*, *Search Party*, *Big Mouth*, *At Home with Amy Sedaris* (which earned them a Writers Guild Award), and more before writing and leading the original cast of *Oh, Mary!*

Beyond acting, Escola wrote for comedy TV shows like *Ziwe*, *The Other Two*, and *Difficult People*. In 2021, they released a YouTube rendition of their live special "Help! I'm Stuck With Cole Escola" and, in 2023, they released an homage to '70s westerns on YouTube called "Our Home Out West." Vanity Fair added Escola’s performance to its 25 Best Performances of 2023 list.

## What to watch for

- While *Oh, Mary!* marks Escola’s Broadway debut, they’re no stranger to performing in New York. The Public Theater’s Joe’s Pub was a stop on the tour of their live solo show *Help! I'm Stuck.* 
- Numerous Hollywood actresses have played Mary Todd Lincoln in film and television adaptations of President Abraham Lincoln’s life. They include Mary Tyler Moore, Sally Field, Donna Murphy, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. 
- Director Sam Pinkleton is best known as a Broadway choreographer for hit musicals like *Amelie* and *Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812*, for which he earned a Tony Award nomination.
- *Oh, Mary!* features original music by Daniel Kluger, a Tony-nominated composer, orchestrator, and sound designer known for his work on shows like *The Sound Inside*, *Significant Other*, and the 2019 revival of *Oklahoma!*

## Who is Cole Escola?

Morrison earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the Best Musical winner *A Strange Loop* on Broadway after winning Lucille Lortel and Obie Awards for the show's Off-Broadway premiere. He is also an Outer Critics Circle honoree for his performance in *Blues for an Alabama Sky* off Broadway.

The Lyceum Theatre is Broadway's oldest continually operating theatre. Designed by Herts & Tallant and built by producer-manager David Frohman, the theatre officially opened on November 2, 1903. It was a replacement for Frohman's previous Lyceum Theatre on Fourth Street, which closed in 1902.

The inaugural production at the venue was the play *The Proud Prince*. The Lyceum Theatre was purchased in 1940 by a conglomerate of producers which included George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, and in 1950, the Shubert Organization took ownership of the theatre. In 1974, the Lyceum Theatre became the first Broadway theatre to be granted landmark status.
