The New York Botanical Garden

The New York Botanical Garden, established in 1891, is the largest garden in any U.S. city. Spanning 250 acres in the Bronx borough of New York, the garden was inspired by the Royal Botanic Gardens near London. The mission of the NYBG is to conserve and cultivate all kinds of wildlife species, give the public access to knowledge about nature, and allow them to experience all kinds of flora and fauna for themselves. During the holiday season each year, visitors can also experience a thrilling train show and the Glow light display.

The 50 gardens within the NYBG contain more than 1,000,000 plants, and the exhibits and species on display are always changing. The garden offers a rotating lineup of special events, too, to celebrate holidays, inspire conservation efforts, and to show off new species and research findings. The garden's programming is family-friendly, so parents can introduce their children to natural science from a young age, and attendees of all ages can experience the beauty of nature within the concrete jungle, escaping the city for a while.
