Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, has been a cornerstone of New York City's performing arts scene since its creation in the 20th century. It began construction in 1955, and its first venue, the Philharmonic Hall, opened in 1962. That venue is now called the David Geffen Hall, dedicated to NY Philharmonic and other concerts, and it's one of many institutions within Lincoln Center.

The complex is also home to the David H. Koch Theater, home of New York City Ballet; the Juilliard School and the adjacent Alice Tully Hall; and the historic Metropolitan Opera House; and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. An adjacent building houses Lincoln Center Theater's three venues, including the Vivian Beaumont Theater on Broadway and the Off-Broadway Claire Tow and Mitzi E. Newhouse Theaters.

Together, all these venues make Lincoln Center a one-stop hub for arts and culture, whether you're looking for theatre, ballet and other dance, orchestras and other music, opera, and more.
