Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in London is set almost two decades after Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s adventures came to a close, with the wizarding world facing yet another dangerous threat to its survival. Their children are now beginning their own lives at Hogwarts, but when the past and the present unexpectedly come together, everyone finds themselves caught in a journey through time.
The adventure brings familiar characters back alongside a new group of young witches and wizards, as relationships are tested and the future is at risk from forces they do not yet fully understand.
Beginning in autumn 2026, London audiences can experience the complete story in just one performance rather than across the production’s original two-part format.
This play is an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child brings together a reimagined wizarding-world story with fantastic theatrical performance.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in London had its world premiere at London’s Palace Theatre in 2016 and spent its first ten years in the West End, performed in two parts. However, in 2026, the original London stage closes that chapter as the production adapts a streamlined one-part version, allowing audiences to see the full story in one visit.
The newly condensed show runs for approximately two hours and 55 minutes, including an interval.
The show was an instant hit, winning nine Olivier Awards and collecting dozens of major honours internationally. More than 2.2 million people have attended the London production.
Jack Thorne is the playwright, and John Tiffany directs the show, with movement by Steven Hoggett, alongside a formidable creative team: illusions and magic by Jamie Harrison, set design by Christine Jones, costume design by Katrina Lindsay, music by Imogen Heap, lighting design by Neil Austin, and sound by Gareth Fry.
