Hay Fever in London includes Christine Baranski making her West End debut as Judith Bliss, a retired actress who has left the stage but is having a hard time surrendering the attention it brought her. At the Bliss family’s country house, Judith is restless and craving the applause she left behind. Her reclusive novelist husband, David, and their grown children, Sorel and Simon, are too self-absorbed to give her the attention she craves.
So, naturally, Judith invites a young fan for the weekend. There’s only one problem—every member of the family had the same idea to invite a guest, and no one warned the others. Once the visitors arrive, the house becomes an emotional battlefield of flirtation, drama, and uncomfortable put-downs.

First staged in 1925, Hay Fever is a play by Noël Coward. The story is a fantastic peek into the complexities of a family, each member consumed by their own vanity. This play shows what is supposedly a family of prestige and elegance for what they truly are: selfish and incapable of sitting with themselves without the applause of others.
This new West End revival brings together two major screen and stage performers. Christine Baranski arrives at Wyndham’s Theatre after an acclaimed career that spans Broadway, film, and television, including two impressive Tony Award wins. Richard E. Grant returns to the West End stage after more than two decades apart, taking on the brilliant role of David Bliss.
This production, expertly staged by Emily Burns, is playing a strictly limited season. With Coward’s quick-witted dialogue and a star-led cast, Hay Fever promises to bring both elegance and arrogance back to the West End stage.
