Sherlock Holmes is a play set in 1890 in a smashing world-premiere that begins when a mysterious woman arrives at Sherlock Holmes’ doorstep, dragging him out of a lull and right back into danger. The case widens quickly as secrets quickly pile up, and the stakes rise exponentially as criminals are chased through the city and down the River Thames.
This show is written by Joel Horwood and directed by Sean Holmes, remaining close to Conan Doyle’s famous characters and source material for a fresh new look at a story that has kept folks entertained for well over a century. With Joshua James as Holmes and Jyuddah Jaymes as Watson, this play is rich and incredibly high-energy, written for an audience ready for a great adventure.

Directions from tube: (10 mins) Baker Street is the nearest tube station to the Open Air Theatre. Exit Baker Street on to Marylebone Road and turn left. Proceed past Madame Tussauds along Marylebone Road and turn left into York Gate. Continue straight up York Gate and over York Bridge, leading to the Inner Circle. Pass through the large gates into the park and walk straight until you see the theatre on your left. Entry to the Open Air Theatre is via the Box Office in Queen Mary’s Gardens within Regent’s Park.
Sherlock Holmes in London makes its world premiere. The show is written by Joel Horwood, whose previous work includes Ocean at the End of the Lane, and this premiere opens the 2026 season at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. Sean Holmes directs a large ensemble cast led expertly by Joshua James and Jyuddah Jaymes, accompanied as well by Nadi Kemp-Sayfi, Marcia Lecky, Mervin Noronha, Patrick Warner, and others, taking on multiple roles.
Behind the scenes is a masterful creative team, including set and co-costume designer Grace Smart, co-costume designer and supervisor Lisa Aitken, lighting design by Ryan Day, sound design by Elena Peña, and music by Jherek Bischoff.
This production is expansive and incredibly rich, drawing in the audience through sharp storytelling and a well-chosen venue that allows for a more immersive theatre experience. This is a show that audiences are not soon to forget.
