Set during the height of Cold War paranoia, this political satire follows a deranged U.S. Air Force general who orders a nuclear strike on the Soviet Union. As chaos ensures, a group of frantic officials race against time to prevent the impending doomsday.
Released in 1964, Stanley Kubrick directed, co-wrote, and produced the film. Dr Strangelove is widely considered one of the greatest films of all time and received four Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Actor for Peter Sellers, who played three roles, including the title character.

Steve Coogan is best known for his character Alan Partridge, a bumbling and self-absorbed radio and television presenter. He created the character in the 1990s and has continued to play him in various projects, including TV series, radio shows, and a feature film. Coogan won a BAFTA in 2013 for his work on the critically acclaimed movie Philomena, which he also starred in alongside Dame Judi Dench.
Coogan previously worked with Armando Iannucci on the BBC radio comedy On the Hour thirty years ago. Sean Foley will direct and co-adapt the play, who is known for his Olivier Award-winning comedy The Play What I Wrote which was a hilarious celebration of the British comedy double act Morecambe and Wise.
