More information about ABBA Voyage

ABBA stormed onto the global music scene when the group won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with their single 'Waterloo,' which became their first number-one single in the UK. The group achieved nine number-one singles in the UK, and the ABBA holograms will perform seven of these hit songs during ABBA Voyage.

To create the avatars (known as ABBAtars), all four original band members wore motion-capture suits and performed the twenty-song set. They used approximately 160 cameras to film the performances over five weeks. Industrial Light & Magic, the motion picture visual effects company behind Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, designed the graphics for the ABBA Voyage concert.

What To Watch For

  • ABBA became the first act from Sweden to win the Eurovision Song Contest. Since then, Sweden has won seven times, tying them for the country with the highest number of wins with Ireland.
  • Released in 2021, “Voyage” marked ABBA’s first album in forty years, breaking records at Universal Music UK for the most pre-ordered album with a massive 111,000 advanced sales.
  • ABBA Voyage combines the work of 1,000 visual-effects artists across four global studios to ensure the avatar movements are as realistic as possible. They even thought about the way light would reflect off the sequined outfits.
