About The Windsors: Endgame

Join Harry Enfield, Kara Tointon, Tracy-Ann Oberman and many of the stars of The Windsors, Channel 4’s irreverent royal spoof, live on stage, at the Prince of Wales theatre in The Windsors: Endgame.

Like all good soap operas, this is the story of intergenerational conflict, with Wills challenging his father for the crown and Camilla determined to see him off and rule the land with an iron fist. Wills needs Harry and Meghan’s help if he’s ever going to triumph – but will they come back from California and their authentic life with their rescue chickens? And how will Beatrice and Eugenie ever clear their father, Prince Andrew’s name?

Written by the creators of the TV series, George Jeffrie and Bert Tyler-Moore, directed by Michael Fentiman (Amelie) and featuring songs, sword fights and snogging competitions, this show has everything you need to beat the lockdown blues!

Tell Me More

Hold on to your fascinators — Harry Enfield is back to lampoon the monarchy with The Windsors: Endgame at the Prince of Wales Theatre! The play is the stage adaptation of raucous Channel 4 hit sitcom The Windsors featuring Harry Enfield as hapless Prince Charles caught between the ambitious Prince William and haughty Camilla. Book The Windsors: Endgame tickets today.

The Windsors: Endgame is a play that follows William making a bid for the crown against his father Charles, but has to rethink his plot when he’s foiled by the iron-fisted Camilla who has her own plans for the throne. When William turns to Harry and Meghan for help, will they leave their newfound life (and rescue chickens) in California behind? Featuring songs and snogging competitions, The Windsors: Endgame promises to be as cheeky as the original sitcom.

The Windsors: Endgame in London features a new plotline to the television series, but fans of the original show will recognise their favourite actors as Enfield reprises his role as Charles, Matthew Cottie returns as Edward, and Tom Durant-Pritchard plays Harry, among others. The show is also written by the creators of the original television show, George Jeffrie and Bert Tyler-Moore. Michael Fentiman directs, best known for his previous adaptation Amelie: The Musical on the West End. The show also features music by Felix Hagan, sets by Madeleine Girling, lighting by Jack Knowles, and sound by George Dennis.

The Windsors: Endgame has its world premiere at the Prince of Wales Theatre in the West End this August. With a strictly limited ten-week run, you won’t want to miss out on this irreverent and timely comedy. The Windsors: Endgame tickets are available now.

What to watch for

  • The Windsors has had three successful seasons on Channel 4, as well as a Christmas Special in 2016 and a Royal Wedding Special in 2018. The Royal Wedding special featured Princess Beatrice embarking on an illicit affair with Jeremy Corbyn.
  • Director Michael Fentiman is best known for directing Amelie: The Musical at the Criterion Theatre, which was nominated for three Olivier Awards including Best New Musical. He has previously directed The Importance of Being Earnest for the Vaudeville Theatre and The Taming of the Shrew for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
  • Harry Enfield, who plays Charles, is one of the giants of British comedy. He rose to fame in the 1990s when his critically acclaimed sketch show, Harry Enfield & Chums, was aired on the BBC and ran for eight consecutive years. More recently he has featured on comedy shows Bad Education and Upstart Crow.
  • The Prince of Wales Theatre is usually home to The Book of Mormon musical, written by South Park creators Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the theatre has been empty for much of the 2020, and The Windsors: Endgame is the only play being staged in the theatre before the return of The Book of Mormon in November.
  • Felix Hagan, who composed the show’s music, is also known for his band Felix Hagan & the Family who have toured alongside folk-punk singer Frank Turner. They have also played supporting the Arkells, a Canandian rock band.
