Trick or treat

Trick or treat? With this show you get both. The trick is a con-artist demon in a striped suit, scheming his way into Lydia Deetz's haunted new home. The treat is this "absolute scream" (The Standard), with sets that turn the Prince Edward Theatre into the West End's most gloriously ghoulish haunted house. Just don't say his name three times, or do if you dare — it's Halloween after all!

Double, double, 20 years of trouble. Girl in green and blonde in a bubble… Into the cauldron at the Apollo Victoria Theatre they went, along with an eye of newt and wing of flying monkey. Whisper the incantation, stir with a broomstick and behold: Wicked, the spellbinding potion London still can't get enough of. Keep away from water.

A snowstorm, a guesthouse, and a killer already inside. Agatha Christie's murder mystery has been running at St. Martin's Theatre since 1952, and the tradition holds: nobody in the audience reveals the ending on the way out. This genuinely unsettling game of whodunnit is perfect for Spooky Season.

Every monster starts somewhere. Step back to Hawkins in 1959 and meet the teenager the whole town will learn to fear: Henry Creel. Packed with jaw-dropping illusions and Olivier Award-winning design, this is Stranger Things like you've never seen it, live and in the room with you. This is your last chance to see the show as it closes at the end of the year!

Places aren't haunted. People are. James and Lou move from Chicago to London to leave their past behind, but something has followed them. Inspired by the hit horror films, this is a brand-new story told live, with stage illusions that will send a chill down your spine.

Everyone at the Round Table is playing a part, and one of you already knows who the traitors are. This live version of the show trades the screen for Covent Garden, handing you a role, a mission list and however many alliances you can manage before someone banishes you. It runs three hours, mostly for adults, with family-friendly time slots if you'd rather bring the kids into the deception.

Fairytales were always scarier than you remember. Wolves lurk, witches bargain and "happily ever after" comes at a price in Sondheim's darkly brilliant musical. Venture into the woods if you dare.

The West End's original ghost story. Behind the mask, beneath the opera house and under your skin, The Phantom of the Opera has been haunting His Majesty's Theatre for 40 years.

Never take an offering meant for the dead. On the first night of ghost month, a young woman moves into a new home with her secret girlfriend, carrying an orange taken from the family altar. Something hungry has followed her in. A sexy horror rom-com exploring what takes root in the space between superstition and rationality.

The nation's favourite game of lies comes to the West End as a cycle of five plays, On Saturdays, you vote on who wears the cloak. Nick Mohammed hosts. It opens in May 2027, so plan your betrayal now.

Down, down, down where the dead folk dwell, there's jazz in the furnace and a band from hell. Hadestown takes you to the underworld for smoky New Orleans jazz, foot-stomping folk and a love story as old as myth. You may already know how this one ends. Whatever you hear on the walk home… don't look back.
