The moment the curtain went up on the original "West Side Story" on Broadway, musical theatre changed forever.
One of the greatest love stories ever told, Joey McKneely’s vibrant stage production features Jerome Robbins’ original choreography, as fresh as it has ever been. Celebrated conductor Donald Chan leads the Opera Australia Orchestra to play Bernstein’s iconic score featuring ‘Maria’, ‘Somewhere’, ‘I Feel Pretty’ & ‘America’.
A modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet; this tragic love story tells the tale of two young people whose happiness is destroyed by the hate of two enemy camps in New York City’s urban jungle. The Jets, sons of previous immigrants to America, battle the new arrivals from Puerto Rico, the Sharks, for domination of the streets.
Featuring some of the finest emerging talents assembled in Australia; this outstanding cast is lead by Todd Jacobsson (Book Of Mormon) as Tony, Lyndon Watts (Aladdin) as Bernardo, Chloé Zuel (Beautiful) as Anita with two impressive professional stage debuts by Noah Mullins as Riff and Sophie Salvesani as Maria.
The ideal fusion of dance, music, and theatre.
