Tony winner Rob Ashford directs Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen in New York; in this dazzling story based on Moyoco Anno's award-winning manga, Colette (Caruso) is a witty young dreamer in twentieth-century Paris. While working at a brothel, she begins chronicling the fantasies, confessions, and private sorrows of her eccentric clients, turning herself from object to observer. All the while, Colette has her own perversion she cannot outrun: a lingering, destructive attachment to Léon, her childhood love.

Located at the Culture Club, The Night Egg is named after a reference to the club in the manga, a Japanese graphic novel art form. Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen is a highly popular manga in Japan, and now it gets the musicalized treatment.
The story follows a young dreamer in Paris; there, she serves clients for certain deeds but, all the while, suffers from her own toxic hold: her childhood love, whose pull on her continues to blur the line between devotion and self-destruction. Perversion becomes art, and art becomes perversion, again and again in this thrilling new musical.
