More information about Faydra

Julianne Moore is one of today's most celebrated actresses, and she started her year in the 1980s by performing off Broadway. Decades later, she returns to the stage with a dream team. Director Les Waters (Eurydice, Dana H., The Christians) is known for his playful and experimental stagings, and he is a frequent collaborator of playwright Sarah Ruhl, whose popular play Eurydice shows her strength at adapting classics.

Faydra is a world-premiere play and a Manhattan Theatre Club commission offering a fearless take on the Greek myth. Moore previously played a leading role in another story about a deviant relationship, as seen in her Golden Globe-nominated performance in May December. Now, she returns to the stage in a surprising, twisty story about forbidden love that strikes where you least expect. In Waters' production, audiences can expect a riveting story and a theatrical design that brings this ancient tale to modern times.
