A special kind of performance, this unique play offers a rotating cast of stars at the helm. Pre-Existing Condition originally ran at the Connelly Theater, and Drama Desk Award nominee Greg Keller, Pulitzer Prize finalist Dael Orlandersmith, and Drama Desk Award winner Sarah Steele reprise their supporting roles from that first run.
Playwright Marin Ireland and director Maria Dizzia said in a shared statement, "We are thrilled and honored to be able to bring the play back at Greenwich House this fall and continue the tradition of rotating the actors playing the central role. We have assembled a dazzling group of women to add to the legacy of our first production — Lupita, Phillipa, Susannah, Hari and Edie are each incredibly dynamic powerhouses, bringing new and singular perspectives."
They added, "Actors sharing the role creates a community inside this production, and we can’t wait for that community to expand to audiences in September."
