Celebrate a new year and a bright future for music with this Sunday matinee by the New York String Orchestra (NYSO). December concerts by the NYSO are a longstanding, beloved tradition at Carnegie Hall, but this season’s performances are especially meaningful. After more than three decades of leadership, conductor Jaime Laredo—only the second music director in the NYSO’s 56-year history—has announced this as his final season in the role. Don’t miss your chance to hear him conduct this youthful ensemble one more time before its new chapter begins next season! Enjoy Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro for string quartet and orchestra, featuring New York’s Isidore String Quartet; Dvořák’s masterful Violin Concerto, featuring violinist Bella Hristova; and Felix Mendelssohn’s sunny “Italian” Symphony.
