About Birthright
See this riveting new play by Tony Award winner Jonathan Spector (Eureka Day). In Birthright off Broadway, six young friends reunite after their shared trip to Israel for Birthright. Over decades of friendship, they question their place in the world as it shifts around them, wondering what it means to share a faith, remain friends, and find a place to belong.
Birthright plays at MCC Theater starting in June and runs for a limited time only. Teddy Bergman (KPOP) directs this fresh production that is an exploration of identity, memory, and what it means to hold onto friendship and faith.
Birthright in New York City will take place in MCC Theater’s Newman Mills Theater in Midtown. The show represents Spector's return to New York theatre after his smash hit comedy, Eureka Day, which was also a timely exploration of contemporary issues.

“Timely, thought-provoking exploration of Jewish identity and friendship”
A Nuanced Portrait of Jewish American Life
Birthright follows six friends who meet on a trip to Israel, tracking their evolving relationships and views across nearly two decades. Audiences overwhelmingly praise the sharp, witty writing and out...

a group of jewish millenials reckon with their relationship towards birthright over three reunions (over three acts).
One of the best theater events of the season, this off-Broadway (transfer-ready to Broadway in my opinion) play delivers on multiple levels. Following six Jewish-American friends from their 20s to 40s in three fast-paced acts (don't let the 3 hours run time scare you), it touches very relevant themes, both political and personal and asks the tough question of our times. How has our discourse changed in the past 2 decades? What happens to friendships over the years? What is the role of Jews in today's America as it relates to Israel and its policies? What does it mean to truly belong to a community? But it's all super will written and directed, with an excellent cast, and it's filled with drama, humor and moving moments. A triumph and must-see!
Amazing theatre experience. Very political but I love the all point of views are referred in the show. Amazing performances from actors

MCC has always championed bold new writing that provokes conversation and builds community, and we’re proud to support them in premiering this urgent and resonant work."
MCC’s Co-Artistic Director Bernie Telsey also weighed in: “The moment we started reading Birthright, we couldn’t put it down," he said.
