About Cold War Choir Practice
Get Cold War Choir Practice tickets to see the return engagement of this hit play, a Critic's Pick in The New York Times. Cold War Choir Practice plays for a limited time only this winter, starting February 21, at MCC Theater following the comedy's acclaimed run at Clubbed Thumb's Summerworks festival in 2025. Directed by Tony Award nominee Knud Adams (English), Cold War Choir Practice in New York is Ro Reddick's delightful play about Reaganomics, disco, and cults, all set around the holidays.
Cold Way Choir Practice off Broadway "is infused with choral music and spiked with espionage," per The New York Times. In this new play, a young girl gets tied up in some intrigue when her estranged uncle, a prominent Black conservative, brings his mysteriously ill wife home for the holiday season. What follows is a fugue on war, economy, and music, all handled in surprising and moving ways.

More information about Cold War Choir Practice
Clubbed Thumb, who premiered this work at its flagship festival, Summerworks, downtown in 2025, now brings its hit show back to Midtown at The Newman Mills Theatre at the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theatre Space. A new play with music also co-produced with Page 73, Cold War Choir Practice is emblematic of Clubbed Thumb shows: funny, strange, and short, all lasting 90 minutes or less.
Clubbed Thumb shows include downtown wonders Grief Hotel and Deep Blue Sound and also others that have gone onto bigger lives, like Broadway's What the Constitution Means to Me. This new play is just as rigorous, and innovative, as its events are underscored by the cryptic Syracuse, New York chapter of the Seedlings of Peace Children’s Chorus. The Cold War was a period of secrets and espionage, and this play will have some intrigue of its own. Don't miss what The New York Times calls "a brainy new comedy."
