Jazz at Lincoln Center welcomes eight-time Grammy Award winner, 2024 NEA Jazz Master, and two-time Oscar nominee Terence Blanchard to Rose Theater. Over the course of his storied career, the trumpet player, composer, and band leader has been innovating across genres and mediums.
For his groundbreaking work as a composer and orchestrator, Blanchard has earned peer recognition and critical acclaim. He has scored several award-winning films, including those of longtime collaborator Spike Lee. His celebrated opera Fire Shut Up in My Bones became the first work by a Black composer to appear at the Metropolitan Opera in its 136-year history.
This highly anticipated two-night career retrospective features Blanchard’s E-Collective as well as the Turtle Island Quartet, Benny Green, Christian McBride, Ben Wendel, and more special guests.
