Today, everyone is being stalked, and everyone is a stalker. Directed by Eurovision mastermind Edward Af Sillén, Stalker is an innovative 90-minute magic show that digs into the ever-present hum of surveillance and how it impacts our culture and perception of ourselves.

More information about Stalker

Brynolf & Ljung first came to prominence in 2009; that year, they won the silver medal in Comedy Magic at the prestigious World Championships of Magic. They later impressed Penn & Teller on the first season of the TV series Penn & Teller: Fool Us! and then performed on their own show, Street Magic.

Instantly delighted, the godfathers of magic, Penn & Teller, knew they had to introduce these magicians to a broader audience on a worldwide stage. “Brynolf & Ljung had us at ‘hallå’ with their mind-bending magic on our TV show,” Penn & Teller said in a joint statement. “Now, we’re joining forces with them to unleash Stalker in New York City.”

And the piece certainly brings together a spectacular team: Stalker off Broadway is directed by Edward Af Sillén, known for his work as a director, writer, and commentator for Eurovision. The creative team also includes lighting designer Jamie Roderick and sound designer Drew Levy.

What to watch for

  • Stalker was born out of street magic. Before becoming internationally acclaimed illusionists, Brynolf & Ljung gained popularity in their native Sweden as street magicians. Giving their acts a folksy beginning has allowed them to grow into trans-Atlantic stars as they make their Off-Broadway debut with this new piece.
  • Brynolf & Ljung’s work is original, organic, and often prop-less; the pair use borrowed objects and audience suggestions for their illusions.
  • You've likely seen the director's work before. Edward Af Sillén is one of Sweden's premier directors and screenwriters, known for his work for the Eurovision Song Contest (with 250 million viewers) and hit musicals such as Såsom i himlen, Änglagård, and Tootsie. In 2015, BBC brought him to London to direct a show with Graham Norton. Recently, he directed the Swedish production of Peter Pan Goes Wrong.
  • Presenters Penn & Teller are magic legends celebrating 50 years of magic-making in 2025! From busking on the streets of Philadelphia to selling out runs on Broadway and in in Las Vegas, magic’s iconic duo continue to defy labels — and at times physics — by redefining the genre of magic and inventing their own niche in comedy.
