Pirnot, a playwright and songwriter based in NYC, also wrote the plays Private and Offshore Clinical Trials. Prestigious institutions such as Playwrights Horizons, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and Williamstown Theatre Festival all developed or produced her work, and she is an NYTW Usual Suspect, a member of a community of theatre artists that receive opportunities from the institution for experimentation, community learning, and the creation of new work. Pirnot is the 2022 Berwin Lee & Brown Playwrights Award winner and a 2023 Helen Hayes / Charles MacArthur Award nominee.

Lucas Hnath, originally from Orlando, Florida, shifted from pre-med studies to dramatic writing at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Known for his Tony Award-nominated play A Doll's House, Part 2 on Broadway, Hnath also wrote acclaimed works like Hilary and Clinton, Dana H., The Christians, and Red Speedo. His awards and nominations include an Obie Award and a Guggenheim Fellowship.

What to watch for

• Pirnot and Hnath’s collaboration on I Love You So Much I Could Die is their first professional venture together — but they struck up a personal relationship years ago. They are a couple who met at New York Theatre Workshop, where Pirnot said she and Hnath fell in love.
• Hnath, an alum of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, now teaches there in the playwriting program where he got his start.
• Hnath is no stranger to experimental solo shows. On and off Broadway, his play Dana H. featured actress Deirdre O'Connell lip-syncing to Hnath’s mother’s testimony of her real-life experience being abducted and held captive.
• Pirnot has experimented with storytelling via computerized voices. In “the world is full of,” her short audio play for Ensemble Studio Theater’s podcast Youngblood Monday Lunch, she wrote “Microsoft Sam” as the main character.
