About Split Lip

Created and performed by Blake Anderson

Ginava, diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder, grapples with maintaining control as dominant alters vie for supremacy over their body and mouth. Split Lip takes audiences on a journey through the exploration of trauma and its impact on mental health, presented through the unique medium of spoken word lip-syncing.

“It will punch you in the gut, have you in tears (both with sadness and laughter) and lend a bosom to cradle you afterward” -Sydney Scoop

“Takes audiences to the edge of their seats” -Theatre & Arts Reviews (Edinburgh)

Ambitious, Edgy, Quirky, Great acting, Clever

See it if you enjoy one person shows from Fringe presetations around the world-this one from Australia where Blake and his drag, Ginava stir things up

Don’t see it if you do not like weird shows with loud noises, can be triggered by a variety of mental issues or do not like watching a fully lip synced show

See it if You want to see a gifted performer of tremendous creativity and discipline. The work is truly terrifying, hilarious, smart, and deeply felt.

Don’t see it if You are not interested in a probing, complex work that expands our view of what depths an expertly-considered solo performance can acheive.

Absorbing, Quirky, Intense, Edgy, Great acting

See it if You enjoy non traditional theater. The lip sync spoken word storytelling is very well done. This short 60 min show is captivating.

Don’t see it if You don’t like small informal spaces - the lower level theater is intimate (which I think adds to the experience).
