To My Girls is a play with an idyllic setting: It's after the pandemic has ended, and we're in sunny Palm Springs. A group of gay men — all close friends —have traveled there for a celebratory reunion. They plan to unwind, catch up, and drink cocktails on their much-needed getaway from the gloom that's dominated the past few years.

But things don't stay totally sunny for long. Innocent gossip soon gives way to surprising truths as more and more drinks flow. The men find out new things about their friends that they never knew, or perhaps were never true before. They're left to deal with the fact that they've changed, the world has changed, and their friendships might be changing, too.

Though Second Stage's production of To My Girls Off-Broadway marks the show's world premiere, the creative team are no strangers to the New York stage. Director Stephen Brackett has led shows like The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical and the upcoming A Strange Loop on and Off-Broadway, as well as Be More Chill on Broadway. Playwright JC Lee's works have appeared on New York stages too, such as Relevance and Luce.

Grab your girls — or your guys, or any of your closest friends — and dive into To My Girls in New York. Get To My Girls tickets on TodayTix.

What to Watch For

  • JC Lee's work last appeared Off-Broadway in 2018, when he premiered his play Relevance at MCC Theater with Tony winner Jayne Houdyshell in the starring role.
  • Prior, he made his New York playwriting debut with Luce at Lincoln Center Theater in 2013. Lee later co-wrote the screenplay for a Luce film adaptation that featured Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer.
  • If you've watched ABC or HBO, you might be familiar with Lee's work. He's also a screenwriter who's penned episodes of "How to Get Away With Murder," "Looking," and "Girls."
  • Speaking of TV, if you're a Mad Men fan, keep an eye out for Salvatore Romano! The actor who plays that character, Bryan Batt, is in the cast of To My Girls.
