About Skeleton Crew

In 2008 Detroit, a small automotive factory is on the brink of foreclosure, and a tight knit family of workers hangs in the balance. With uncertainty everywhere, the line between blue collar and white collar becomes blurred, and this working family must reckon with their personal loyalties, their instincts for survival and their ultimate hopes for humanity.

The New York Times gives this astonishing work a Critic’s Pick and cheers, “A very fine new play… warm-blooded, astute, deeply moral and deeply American.” And The Amsterdam News hails it as “a prime example of how theatre imitates life… intense, touching and funny.”

More information about Skeleton Crew

Dominique Morisseau’s critically adored hit play Skeleton Crew lands on Broadway following two celebrated Off-Broadway runs, rave reviews, and regional productions across the country, which made it the third most produced play in the U.S. in 2018. Get Skeleton Crew tickets on TodayTix now.

Detroit, 2008. The last auto plant in the city is on the verge of closure. Its remaining workers are a small but tight-knit group who can’t imagine life without the factory — or each other. Yet larger forces will test how far their loyalty goes when individual survival is on the line.

Morisseau’s Skeleton Crew play is a funny, brutal look at the harsh realities facing American blue collar workers, and the impossible decisions forced upon them by larger forces out of their control. But it is also, more simply, the story of one family attempting to stay together.

Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad stars in Skeleton Crew in New York. A celebrated actress of stage and screen with six Emmy nominations under her belt, Rashad is treading the boards for the first time since 2009, when she stepped into the role of Violet Weston in August: Osage County.

Skeleton Crew was first produced by Atlantic Theater Company in its smaller space devoted to new work, Atlantic Stage 2, in 2016. The Off-Broadway company transferred Skeleton Crew to its larger space, the Linda Gross Theater, later the same year. Following productions across the country, the show returns to New York. Skeleton Crew Broadway tickets are on sale now.
