Life on the Hyphen is based on a series of personal essays about growing up as a child of Korean immigrants in rural Pennsylvania during the 1970s and 80s. A humorous and sometimes heartbreaking exploration of what it means to be Asian and American, the story is told through text, movement, and an attempt at learning to do Jultagi (줄타기), traditional Korean performance of tightrope-walking while storytelling.
