FINAL WEEKS! MUST END NOVEMBER 28.
New York Magazine proclaims DANA H. is “unmissable. It’s the smash of the season.” This New York Times Critic’s Pick tells the true story of Dana Higginbotham, a woman who was held hostage for five months in a series of Florida motels. Her son, playwright Lucas Hnath, turned her harrowing and courageous words into this riveting new play.
Deirdre O'Connell brings Dana's real words to life on stage in "a singular, richly nuanced performance" (The Daily Beast).

Dana was a psych ward chaplain when she became close with a troubled patient, an ex-con looking for a new life. Through text drawn directly from interviews with Dana, we learn the gripping true story of what followed. Dana is kidnapped by the patient and forced to travel with him across Florida for five months. Dana H. is the harrowing tale of an intimate bond that becomes an inescapable nightmare.
The show’s only performer, acclaimed downtown theatre actress Deirdre O’Connell, lip-syncs to audio of interviews conducted with the real Dana in a performance praised for its “"near-perfect specificity" by The New York Times and declared “astonishing” by Time Out. O’Connell won both Outer Critics Circle and Obie Awards for the performance following a 2020 run at off-Broadway’s Vineyard Theatre.
The off-Broadway run of Dana H. won universal critical acclaim. The New York Times called it “haunting,” “brilliant” and “one of the richest works of theater to come along in many seasons,” while New York Magazine praised its “well-honed beauty.” Get your Dana H. Broadway tickets today.
