- Playwright Keenan Scott II and director Steve H. Broadnax III both make their Broadway debuts with Thoughts of a Colored Man.
- Thoughts of a Colored Man is one of many plays by Black writers joining the 2021-2022 season, a historic Broadway rarity. Others include Pass Over, Chicken & Biscuits, and for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf.
- Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Kandi Burruss, who has also appeared on The Chi and The Real Housewives of Atlanta, is part of the show’s producing team.
- Playwright Keenan Scott II is part of the 2021 TED Fellow cohort. Scott also wrote for the BET miniseries A Luv Tale.
- Steve H. Broadnax III last directed Katori Hall’s The Hot Wing King, which was awarded the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
