About Plaza Suite

TWO-TIME TONY AWARD® WINNER MATTHEW BRODERICK AND TWO-TIME EMMY AWARD® WINNER SARAH JESSICA PARKER are coming to the Broadway stage together for the first time in over 20 years. Headlining the classic comedy PLAZA SUITE, by legendary playwright and four-time Tony winner NEIL SIMON, these two world-class actors play three different couples in one famous hotel room.

Karen and Sam are a long-married pair whose relationship may be headed for an early checkout. Muriel and Jesse are former high school sweethearts who seem destined for an extended stay. And Norma and Roy are the mother and father of the bride, ready to celebrate their daughter’s nuptials — if only they can get her out of the bathroom.

Tony winner JOHN BENJAMIN HICKEY leads a Tony-winning creative team, including JOHN LEE BEATTY (sets), JANE GREENWOOD (costumes), BRIAN MACDEVITT (lighting), SCOTT LEHRER (sound), TOM WATSON (wigs), and MARC SHAIMAN (music). This uproarious and piercing look at love and marriage is coming to Hudson Theatre for 17 weeks only. Check in — it’s the best room in New York City.

Please note that Lottery/Special Offer tickets may be partial view and may be seated separately.

Broadway icons and married duo Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick celebrate the return of Broadway together in Neil Simon’s classic Plaza Suite. Simon’s beloved comedy gets a sumptuous revival that reunites Parker and Broderick on stage for the first time since the 1995 revival of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Plaza Suite tickets are available now on TodayTix. Get your Plaza Suite Broadway tickets today.

Three stories, three couples — one famous hotel room. Karen and Sam (Parker and Broderick) are struggling to save their floundering marriage. Muriel and Jesse (Parker and Broderick, again) are high school sweethearts considering a lifetime commitment. Finally, Norma and Roy (you guessed it, Parker and Broderick) are in town for their daughter’s wedding, but discover she is having second thoughts about the nuptials.

Love, commitment, and marriage get a hilarious, probing look in Simon’s treasured 1968 comedy, revived on Broadway for the first time. The Plaza Suite play is Simon’s celebration of the people of New York, the different ways they fall in love, and the city itself.

Tony Award-winning actor John Benjamin Hickey, who recently starred in The Inheritance, directs Plaza Suite, which plays Broadway’s Hudson Theatre following a tryout run at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston in February 2020. Plaza Suite was slated to transfer directly to Broadway beginning March 13, until Broadway theatres closed just one day prior.

Celebrate the return of Broadway with two of its shining stars in this warm hug of a show. Get tickets to Plaza Suite in New York on TodayTix.

What to Watch For

  • Neil Simon wrote more than 30 plays and was nominated for 17 Tony Awards, winning three. In 1983, he became the first playwright in history to have a Broadway theatre named in their honor while the writer was still living.
  • Much like this year’s production, the 1968 debut of Plaza Suite starred two of the biggest showbiz names of the time, George C. Scott and Mauren Stapleton. The hit production played 1,097 performances.
  • Parker and Broderick last performed on stage together in How To Succeed… in 1995, but the couple met before that, in 1991, while working together off Broadway.
  • Composer Marc Shaiman, who wrote the music for Hairspray, Smash, and many more, contributes an original score for Plaza Suite.
  • All three acts are set in Suite 719 of New York City’s Plaza Hotel, a luxury hotel and apartment building still located in Midtown Manhattan, overlooking Central Park.
