One of New York City’s most popular and anticipated live entertainment experiences, Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater sees a diverse group of talented artists on the rise compete to advance to the semi-finals. At this special show, audience participation is key: showgoers are famously tough to please and punctuate acts with votes determining whether an artist will “be good or be gone.”

An event larger than the competition itself, Amateur Night begins with a pre-show party featuring video and music by DJ Jess, a New York fixture. To add in laughs, the comedian Capone hosts the evening and improvises bits based on acts, which, if not good, might just get swept off the stage by C.P. Lacey, the resident Executioner. It’s all in good humor! If you’ve got opinions about others’ talents or lack thereof, then this is the show for you.
