About Knights of The Rose

Knights of The Rose is a classic rock musical of Shakespearean proportions. Featuring the ultimate playlist including legendary ballads and timeless anthems from Bon Jovi, Meatloaf, Bonnie Tyler, No Doubt and many more.

In this epic tale of love, betrayal and sacrifice, the noble Knights of the Rose must defend their House and their honour. Even as the chivalrous Knights return from a glorious victory, a greater threat against the kingdom stirs. As they face the greatest battle of the Age, and betrayal threatens to tear them apart, can true love and honour triumph?

Woven from a rich tapestry of literature and high-voltage classic rock, this heroic new story charges its way into the heart of London this Summer.

More information about Knights of The Rose

What would happen if you picked a bunch of classic rock songs and turned them into a musical about medieval knights? That’s what barrister, Jennifer Marsden, has done in creating this epic tale full of heroic battles, guitar solos, and medieval romance, all set to an incredible score of your favourite rock and pop anthems.

As the knights return from war, they celebrate their victory and greet their sweethearts who have kept themselves busy “Holding Out For a Hero” while they’ve been gone. When summoned once more for battle, it’s not long before romance and backstabbing subplots emerge, with Sir Hugo and Sir Palamon both competing for Princess Hannah’s hand in marriage. Sir Palamon hatches a plan to take down his friend, while Sir Horatio faces his own heartbreak when Prince Garwain declares his love for Lady Isabel. Told through the lyrics of classic rock ballads, the musical follows the men as they find themselves conflicted between their knightly duties and their loves. “Game of Thrones” meets “Bat Out of Hell” in this valiant show.

What to watch for

With a gig-like set list, this show is the ultimate fusion of rock concert and musical theatre. The score features artists from Meatloaf to Muse, and the seamless transitions into timeless bangers are particularly memorable.

There are 87 literary references made throughout the show. See if you can spot the reassembled lines from Shakespeare, Chaucer, Keats, and more. Pick up a programme for a full list!

Box office employee, Jennifer Caldwell, stepped into the role of Emily for a performance last month after only a couple of hours of rehearsal. When no understudy was available, Jennifer became the hero of the day and prevented show cancellation after agreeing to help. She was praised by the other cast members and audience for her fantastic performance! Keep an eye out for her in the front-of-house area (or perhaps on stage again soon?)
