Million Dollar Quartet is a musical that takes place on 4 December, 1956, when the four musicians came together by chance at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee. From this meeting followed an impromptu jam session that would quickly become one of the most famous nights in American music history, bringing Elvis Presley’s swagger, Johnny Cash’s soul, Jerry Lee Lewis’s fire, and Carl Perkins’s grit.

Million Dollar Quartet in London has a book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux, and it is inspired by the real 1956 recording session that would later become known by the show’s title. The musical turns this night into a live celebration of the early years of rock ’n’ roll, with many songs from the era performed on stage.

The production is directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, with choreography by Joanna Goodwin, set and costume design by Libby Watson, lighting design by Alex Musgrave, sound design by Nick Lodge, and musical supervision by Lee Freeman.

The show originally opened on Broadway in 2010 and received three Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. It later premiered in the West End at the Noël Coward Theatre in 2011, and now it returns to London following the Barn Theatre’s extended summer season in Cirencester.
