High School Musical is a musical based on the Disney Channel Original Film that defined pop culture after its initial release in 2006. The stage musical features a book by David Simpatico, with music by Bryan Louiselle.
The story follows Troy Bolton, East High’s beloved basketball captain, and Gabriella Montez, a smart, gifted student, after their shared love for singing leads them to both audition for the school musical. This decision challenges the beliefs of both of their groups of friends, from the Wildcats basketball team to the drama club, as everyone begins to learn what it means to break the mold of assigned expectations.
This London production is co-directed by Joseph Houston and William Whelton, with choreography by Aaron Renfree, set design by Andrew Exeter, lighting design by Rory Beaton, sound design by Matt Peploe, video design by George Reeve, and costume design by Sophia Pardon.
