Don’t miss Stage Kiss, Sarah Ruhl’s fantastic comedy about two ex-lovers who meet again and are expected to kiss on stage over and over again; soon, they start falling into old habits. Book Stage Kiss tickets on TodayTix.
Stage Kiss is a play in which two actors with an interconnected, messy romantic past are cast as opposite leading roles in a 1930s melodrama, and rehearsals become interpersonally spicy. They are supposed to pretend to fall in love with one another; however, as the kisses keep coming and their old feelings begin to resurface, the line between performance and their lived realities dissolves.
Stage Kiss turns the world of theatre into a smashingly clever, unexpectedly sweet story about desire, old flames, and the unpredictable nature of human connection. The cast is led by MyAnna Buring and Patrick Kennedy, and this production marks Sarah Ruhl’s beloved play's exciting UK premiere.

Stage Kiss in London is directed by Blanche McIntyre, following her acclaimed collaboration with Sarah Ruhl on Letters from Max in 2025. This new London staging brings together a cast led by MyAnna Buring and Patrick Kennedy, with Toto Bruin, Oliver Dimsdale, James Phoon, Rolf Saxon, and Jill Winternitz. The play also boasts a masterful creative team, including design by Robert Innes Hopkins, lighting by Oliver Fenwick, sound by Gregory Clarke, and music by Grant Olding.
Stage Kiss is a satirical look at the world of theatre and the ways it brings people together. It has phenomenal humour and uses deliberately terrible theatre to shine a light on a romance unfolding, as well as the pain that plagues the characters. For audiences who love the theatre and compelling romance, this is an incredibly interesting play and a night at the theatre that audiences will not want to miss.
Don’t miss Stage Kiss, a beautifully hilarious portrayal of romance and theatre, showcasing two ex-lovers and how a series of stage kisses brings them back together.
Stage Kiss is at London's Hampstead Theatre, which is located at Eton Avenue, London, NW3 3EU.
