About Quentin Blake's Mrs Armitage on Wheels

Mrs Armitage is a brilliant and eccentric inventor whose wild and wonderful creations are always remarkably useful.

When she and her faithful dog Breakspear set off on a quiet bike ride to visit cousin Angela, she can’t stop thinking of ways to improve her bike. But after adding horns, snack trays, umbrellas, a dog bed and even a sail, will she ever get there?

Featuring puppetry and live music, this brand-new musical adaptation of the award-winning BBC animated series Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures, celebrates the power of imagination and the importance of community.

Presented by esk and Roast Productions. Quentin Blake’s Mrs Armitage on Wheels has been developed in association with Eagle Eye and Little Angel Theatre and based on the BBC animated series Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures, available on BBC iPlayer.

Typical Quentin Blake - wacky, fun, and high energy.

A fun and lovely play suitable for families. There were very few opportunities for audience participation. The kids really wanted to engage a play more! (The Tiger Who Came To Tea play was brilliant for that). The set design didn’t live up to the marketing poster. I was expecting Mrs A’s bicycle to feature all the things in the poster but the set designers turned her shed into the bike part way through which was really odd. The language in the songs was overly complex at times and I overheard some kids asking parents what words meant. Overall a fun play worth seeing.

A fun music-filled hour with a lovely story about Mrs A’s inventiveness. Awesome set and great songs for the kids to sing along to!
