When Azure’s fiancé, Deep, is killed by the police, her entire world seems to spiral out of control. As the hands of grief grip her tighter, her already present eating disorder gets worse, and she struggles to regain control of her life. By her side are Deep’s friends, Roshad and Tone, and the mysterious Heavenly MCs of Street Knowledge remain with them. Together, they shape a world where mourning and justice live side by side.
Deep Azure is a play that is inspired by the real-life killing of university student, Prince Jones. It does a phenomenal job of blending hip-hop, music, and poetry into a powerful performance that highlights love and the torment of grief.
